I move away from the mic to breathe in.

A nice end to the year. I spent today with my mom. We actually went to a diner our family used to frequent when we were young. We went to a few thrift stores. Ran into a lot of rednecks. Should I be proud to be from the same hometown as Larry the Cableguy? I'm not sure. Why is it that no matter what thrift store or Goodwill you go to, in the old LP section, there is a guarantee that there will be an Engleberg Humperdink record? I don't get it. No love for the Humperdink?

Went to Tiajuana Flats for dinner. Their churros and sangria rock. Jason and I are really old people. We had dinner at 5 and decided to hit up Target. So much for big plans. I was really sad to leave the cats overnight by themselves, but they did fine. 11 days and counting until we close. I can't wait. I hate all my stuff in boxes. The cats love it, me not so much.

Newsflash

My brother just informed me yesterday that he will be moving to Savannah. There is a great job opportunity waiting for him there. It will be semi-permanent, so he will still keep his place down here. I am so happy he has grown up. He came to pick me up from work and he had dinner with Jason and I. It was just a shock that he wanted to move. Well, it will finally give me a reason to visit Savannah. I'll at least have a place where I can stay.

Work was not too horrific yesterday. Andrew and I got everything done by 4:00, so I let him go to the bookstore. Jeremy informed me that it would be "men only" today at work. No women allowed. I'm so glad I don't have to go back to work until Wednesday. Joy.

I'm going to the new restaurant "Little Fish, Big Pond" today. I'll let everyone know how that is soon. Jason is going to see Kasim on Sunday. It's "Big Game Day." Glad they will have a chance to hang out.

We officially start packing Monday. We move in two weeks. I just want it to be over.

Is it Friday?

Work blew chunks today. Yeah, I shouldn't complain, since I left at 1:30. Pam quit via fax. I'm not surprised. The "new dude" was 2 1/2 hours late. Issues, Issues, Issues so many issues.

We are closing on the house the 11th of Jan. We can finally pack. You realize when you pack that you have way too much crap. I have way too many books, handbags, decorative plates, clothes, pens, candle holders.....ahhhhh! Too much crap.

Really want to go see "Juno." I just found out Jennifer Garner is also in it. More reason to go see it.

my advice for the world today: Don't go to the gym and work out when you've already twisted your knee. I have to pain to prove it.

Post-Holiday Work

How come we dread going back to work when we've had some time off? Shouldn't we be refreshed and ready to give our all for our employer? (LOL )Today was exceptionally hard. We've been short-handed for about, oh, 6 months or so. When we have enough people, they are generally idiots. That's been the case so far. I work my booty off. I hate it when I have to pay when others slack. I guess I shouldn't complain, since I only have to work 3 day this week. (Plus I will be paid for four)

I really felt tired for the first time in a long time. Actually had to take a Lor-Tab when I got home. I have so precious few from my accident 8 months ago. I have to take them sparingly. My bones ached so bad today. I felt like I worked out at the gym for 8 hours. Nope, just slaved for "The Man." I use that term for the workplace. I seriously have nothing against my boss. He is a nice man and decent to work for. I think I'll take early retirement and become a socialite.

Splitpea soup is excellent

The recipe worked. It was absolutely delicious. I had it with Cuban bread w/ butter and I put a dollop of sour cream in the soup. Delish. Rachael Ray would be proud. I'm sure Jay's grandma would be too. The cats have been fighting like crazy today. I don't know what is with them. Maybe the fact that we are both home and they are bored. aaaggggghhhhh! I need a life.......

Happy day off work, y'all!

Jason and I are doing something very domestic today. It was his idea, really. We are cooking. He's making his grandma's homemade split pea soup.

The ingredients are:

ham
hambone
split peas, soaked overnight
garlic
water
chicken stock
thyme
salt
carrots
celery
red potatoes
elbow macaroni

The elbow macaroni thing throws me off, but he says it really adds something to the soup. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Go Blue, Baby!

I'm a Bridesmaid

It's not a bad thing. My good friend Gil is getting married in Feb. I have to pick the dress up this Thursday. My other friends and I have been trying to figure out if we need a wrap to go along with the strapless dress. To be honest, I've never worn a strapless dress in the Kingdom Hall. I think I'll feel a little like I did at Shazia's wedding.

Last year ( actually, I was technically sort of a bridesmaid for that wedding, too) I wert to my sister's friend's wedding. She had a huge Indian wedding. My sister said it would be fine if I wore a strapless dress. "Oh, there will be lots of American people there. That would be fine," she assured me.

"Well, what are you wearing?" I asked her.

"A sari," she replied.

So what happens? Me and Christina's two friends are the only ones in western dress. Then, I was asked along with Christina, Tiffany, and Kim to help usher the bride in. It was really cool. I wish I had pictures.

So in conclusion, I like being a bridesmaid. Am I still a bridesmaid if I'm married? Is it bridesmatron? I don't really know

Wine talk continued

I forgot the best part of the wine from yesterday....the cherry port and truffles. Jim brought them down from Michigan. You drink a little cherry port, then a little bite of truffle, some port, the truffle.....It's soooo good. It's like eating a chocolate covered cherry with a kick.

Wine on Sunday

Had a nice time at the Dougherty's house. I brought the little kitty to visit. They can't believe how much he's grown. Had some nice Pinot Grigio. Delish. Check out the little guy's pose

Jessica Simpson is laughing now

After Terrell Owens said all that crap about Jessica Simpson wrecking Tony Romo's game, he's now out with a sprained ankle. That is what you get for talking trash, son. I don't believe in karma, but when you trash talk, it always comes back to bite you. I know he said he was sorry but I just don't like him. Great football player, still an a-hole.

I agree with Noel Gallegher

....u know, the guy from Oasis. I heard this sound byte of him going off about how much he hates the whole Christmas thing. blah blah blah. You know I don't celebrate anyway, but even if I did, I don't think I could participate in all the madness. Draping everything in tack red and green, putting up with all the store crowd, and pretending to be nice to everyone. Why can't you do that all year long? I mean, don't get me wrong, I like it when clients bring cheese, crackers, and cake to my place of employment, but why can't they also do it in June? Can't you tell I'm pining for December to be over?

The Cat is on my foot

I'm not really good about recording details, so I don't know how good I'll be with this blogging stuff. But seriously, my cat is sleeping on my foot. He's so cute. My friend Danielle gave him to me when he was 2 weeks old. Now he's 3 months. As soon as I can, I'll post his pix. Bronx is not too enthused. He thought the kitten was loads of fun until about two weeks ago. I guessed he realized that little Harlem was staying. Now Bronx wants to camp out in the bedroom.

We should be closing on the house soon. I hate things in boxes. Jason and I will start packing next week. We have so much going on at this moment. I'm just glad we have the 4 day weekend to enjoy. We may go see Kasim down in West Palm.

Excellent pioneer meeting with the elders last night. They also had this wonderful meal for us. I totally overate. I had and banana and half of a Lean Pocket the entire day. I made up for lost times when dinner rolled around. I'm not even hungry this morning. I like Jerry Seinfeld's theory: an appetite is never really ruined. You always have another one coming around sooner or later.
