All that glitters.....

Isn't always gold. I loved sister Keen's comment today. Shakespeare is always a sure quotable guy. It was a good meeting today. I can't believe our speaker used the phrase: "if it don't fit, you must acquit." Is that proper?

The yard is slowly looking better. I had Jason call the cops on our neighborslove for illegal burning within city limits. I hope I don't make any enemies.

We are having London Broil for dinner. Delish. I laugh my pants off at the new series with Samantha Brown. Passports to Great Weekends is great. You have to check it out.

Daddy is drinking the red wine tonight. I wonder if it's Godfather time.

I think I 'm obsessed with Grizzly bears. I love the show Growing Up Grizzly. It almost makes me cry.

My ebay items are selling well. I'm not financing a car on the profits or anything, but I'm not doing half bad.

J and I got tickets to Coldplay!!!!! I'm surprised that Jason is an even bigger fan than I am. I never thought that would happen.

Mom and I went and saw Nim's Island. It was a cute movie. It's no Swiss Family Robinson.

Out of the doldrums......

I hate it when I can't sleep. Last night is the perfect example. No reason, I just can't cash out. Not really worried about anything. Work was strange and unusual yesterday. What's the deal with the Petrosky lady? She's psycho. Ebay sales are going well. I still am not comfy with selling other people's stuff, yet. Sorry Rhia. I almost bought her Coach shoes off of her for myself. They just didn't fit quite right. I have so much to do today, and yes, I have a list. It keeps growing.

Katie emailed me to let me know she moved. I will miss seeing her. I am in the middle of obsessing over my visit to Savannah to see Nate. I've been asking Ginger where to go and what to see, since she is a native. I think I'll skip Lady and Sons restaurant since Ginger said it wasn't all that great. Don't get me wrong, I love Paula Deen. I think I'll be going up in a few weeks or a month, which ever comes first.

I am also in car shopping mode. Too many things at once. Plus, I am laying pavers today. The mind of a multitasker never has too many things on his or her plate.

The Usual Tuesday.

I think sometimes I get too far into a rut. I guess I am really a lot like my dad; a creature of some habit. I do like my list of things to do. That's where Christina says I am definitely Monica from Friends. I like taking my ocd to the next level. I saw the pilot of Friends last night, actually. Brought back a lot of late 90's memories. Ah, my teen years.

I saw I Love the New Millennium. I don't know why I love those pop culture shows. Definitely gives me a sense of nostalgia. I completely forgot about Billy Bass.

So back with me and my lists. They really help. But I still ignore the big things I have to do, like file for homestead and renew my passport. I may be ocd, but I love to procrastinate.

Happy Summer.

Today is the first day of summer. I am celebrating it in a kind of selfish way. Doing nothing. I do have a study at one I am obligated to go . And a haircut at 2:30. So this doing nothing thing is kind of misleading.

J and I went to Bennigan's last night. The stacked chicken is excellent. So were the Sky Vodkas and pineapple juice, always to be accompanied by a bowl of marichino cherries.

Ebay selling is going well. I am still miffed the one girl skipped out on the Armani jeans. Her loss, really.

The Standard Blog

I saw Baby Mama last night. Pretty cute for a predictable movie. Loved Steve Martin as Mr. Sensitive Pony-tail man. My allusion to the movie Singles.

I just sneezed on the laptop. I know, tmi, and very unsanitary. That's what Lysol wipes are for.

Work smart, not hard.

That was Drew's advice to me at work on Monday. I really don't know why he had the urge to give me that piece of advice. Teenagers are such strange creatures.....

I finally saw Into the Wild. Such beautiful scenery. It makes me instantly jealous of Evalyn for her Alaska cruise this weekend. The movie showed not only the beauty of the Alaskan wilderness, but also from across the U.S. I suddenly have the desire to kayak up the Colorado river. If I only wasn't afraid of rapids.

It really was a sad story, though. It really helped me to see why some feel the need to wander. J.R.R. Tolken said that not all who wander are lost, but maybe they are. Just more on the metaphorical level. Christopher McCandless was in a sense lost. He lost himself in his "Great Alaskan Adventure" to forget all the heartache that he and his sister experienced at home. He dreaded living the way his family and society thought he should live; materialistic and ambitious. In that aspect, the more power to him. He was just a little unbalanced. I wonder how it would feel to burn all your identity and give all your money to charity and take off on such an excursion, losing yourself in travel and books. I know people with a similar approach to life. They, too, are a little unbalanced.

Christopher (a.k.a. Alexander Supertramp ) had no one to answer to but the element. The elements of nature, in the end, lead to his demise. This story definitely has a man vs. nature theme, very similar to To Build a Fire or Call of the Wild.

I did feel sorry for his sister and his parents. You could cut the guilt with a knife. He makes a lot of friends in his travels. The most beautiful friendship is with an older man who is grieving the lost of his son and wife, killed by a drunk driver many years prior.

I definitely recommend this movie.

The core of man's spirit comes from new experiences.

My Kitty is Famous!!!!!!

I knew he was special. And not just in the Jerry's Kids sense. Gotta love my Harlem.....

ldfjshgls;lh!!!!!!!!!

Today went by surprisingly fast. I did leave an hour early to catch a ride with Eliz. It is nice to have someone to talk with to and from work. We like to catch up on gossip, eh, news...... So I am home freakishly early. My husband doesn't know what to do with me. We didn't even cook. The rain is pleasant for a change.

I finally received my first ebay profit. Yeah! After shipping and my fees, I may have a little something extra. Delightful. It will be sad to see the Hello Kitty Boombox go to someone else, but I never use it. I hate that I have become a collector of sorts. I think it's kind of cleansing to get rid of things that I don't need. We'll see how that goes.

Sheila told me the funniest story of 2 lizards mating in the backyard. I couldn't stop laughing. She described it as a sort of wild kingdom rape scene. This huge male lizard came out of nowhere and tackled this small female lizard, knocking her to the ground. After he had his way with her, she ran away. As he sat there, he collected himself, and started wiping his head of the pavement. Sheila said she wanted to stomp on him for taking advantage of that small lizard. It was so much funnier hearing it in her slow southern draw. Hilarious.

AWWWWWwwwwwww!

Two lovers lie with no sheets on the bed,
And the day it is breaking

If you can't tell, Bronxy is on the bed with his daddy. I kinda cropped him out because he was shirtless and his tighty whitey's were kinda showing, but you get the idea.

Today has been dark and rainy for a change. A real change from warm and utterly hot. People are arriving at our house for bookstudy as we speak, but I have to finish tying.

I have grown cilantro!!!! It is early but is has sprouted and is doing quite well. Kristine is helping me plant the yard on Saturday. After I chop the hair, of course.

Hot hot Saturday.....

Up to this month will the great drought endure,
For Italy and Provence, all fruits to half:
The Great Ones less of enemies prisoners of their band
For the rovers, pirates, and the enemy to die.

We had a wonderful early morning in service. The young people really keep me on my toes. I finally watched Across the Universe. Not bad. Jason really loved all the Beattles music. Who doesn't?

Hoot, there it is!.......in my backyard

This is why I don't have mice near my house. I pay these guys. They actually scared me one afternoon. They were sitting on my fence in the middle of the day. I actually thought they were fake. They really are quite gorgeous. Then, there are the large red headed woodpeckers in the front.
For someone who has never liked birds, I've become a bird lover. I've even put out a feeder in my back yard beside the kitchen window. That really is for the cat's enjoyment.

I watched The Transporter II again. Love that movie even though I'm not an action movie girl.

KOBE!!!!! What a 100 dollar steak looks and tastes like

We went to Amura's a few weekends ago and J tried the infamous kobe steak. The cow is massaged, fed beer, and is allowed to listen to classical music. This process give you the most delicate cut of steak. I'm not really into red meat, but it was to die for, in the words of Debi. I had the sushi. You must go there and try the super crunch roll. I'm not a fan of salmon, but the quality is so good and the fish is so fresh. You'll be begging for more.

Bathroom Before......and after.

What do you think?

Epcot Flower and Garden Festival

The garden show was great. We spent the entire day and had a great time. We went on every single ride and stayed until the fireworks. The park was not very crowded. We spent 20 minutes at the very most for any ride, even Test Track and Mission:Space. I was very disappointed that Body Wars is gone. In fact, the entire human body building is not being used. Very sad.

I was sad to see that some of the theaters are in bad shape. Plus, the aquarium in Nemo and the seas is shabby. It's definitely not the same attraction it was when it was The Living Seas. I was quite disappointed in that.

I wish they would make new movies for the country showcases. I saw the same movies on France and China that I saw when I was 6 years old. It is time for an update.

I had Samantha Brown's recommendation of the Grand Marnier slush. Delish. I wanted two, but why be greedy? I almost had creme brulee twice yesterday. Sometimes, you have to splurge.

Here's Tony Orlando sans Dawn

Just went to the Epcot Flower and Garden show. Tony didn't sing as much a he djed and allow the Epcot "house band" do their renditions of famous 60's "Flower Power" songs. He didn't look half bad. No Tom Selleck, of course
